Event Report

            The 2009 installation was great.  Weather was wonderful and the drive was equally pleasant.  The drive over for 2009 Ponies in the sun was especially nice for me as my dad decided to join me for the ride over.  This year, much to my surprise, the majority of our club members chose to go over on Saturday.  Historically this has been the case, but the last few years had seen a paradigm shift.  That being said I am looking forward to being able to make this one an overnight trip next year. 

This year saw an increase in the # of Cougars that participated.  There were a total of 8 Cougars present, 7 of which were CCC members.  Members present were as follows: Larry and Charleen Purviance, Pat Price, Neal Jacobson, Jim Compton, Scott Ferguson & Heather Whitaker, James Wilson, Victor & Aaron Higgins and Jeff & Carol Bingaman.

The awards went as follows…Cougar Hardtop class, 1st place Scott Ferguson & Heather Whitaker ( 68 XR7-G), 2nd place Larry & Charleen Purviance (67 XR-7) and 3rd place Jim Compton (69 XR-7).  The Cougar Modified class saw James Wilson in 1st (70 Eliminator Clone) and Chris Farmer in 2nd (68 std).  Pat Price placed 3rd in the 66 & Newer Ford class.  Neal Jacobson’s 70 XR-7 was awarded Best of Show Cougar which was great for Neal, we were all very happy for him.

I highly encourage all of you to put this one on the calendar for next year.  The weather is always nice in Yakima at this time of year and if you can make it for the show you will not be disappointed.  Here’s hoping to see you in 2010.
