Report and Pictures by Chris Farmer After some morning contemplation Jill and I and the girls piled into the car and made the 20 minute drive to Duvall to walk the 5th Annual Big Rock show. This is a really nice multi make show put on by club member Roger Jones. The weather was wonderful for a show, especially considering the spring that we have had here in the PNW. In fact the combination of nice weather and being at a show motivated me to finish the GT-E enough that I could start attending some shows with it HA! I hope to see more of you out at shows now that the weather has turned. Cars at this show ran from stock GTO’s, and the like all the way to super high end street rods and every thing in between. There were three Cougars in attendance. Roger’s 67 XR-7, Dave Nashif’s 69 convertible and Neal Jacobson’s 70. Roger gets great attendance at these shows and this year was no exception. Although I did not get an exact count I would say that there was somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 cars there. I definitely plan on attending next year and suggest that you all do the same. I would like to thank Dave, Neal, and Jill, Ashlyn and Hailey Farmer for attending and to Roger for putting on a great show. I hope to see all of you out here for this show next year.

After attending the Big Rock Show with no car the day before I decided that the GT-E and I needed to go to the All Ford Picnic at BCC. I have been to this show many times before but never with a car so it was a big change. After a long night I rolled out of bed short on sleep but eager all the same. I met up with Neal Jacobson, Dave Nashif, Jeff and Carol Bingaman and Mike Warner in Factoria and caravanned up to the College parking lot. There we met John, Susan, Cameron and Roman Benoit and Jim Pinkerton. And although I did not see them former members Doug and Donna Mattson were there as evidenced by their 7 XR-7 up in the back 40. Unfortunately for Mike Warner and Jeff and Carol Bingaman there are no awards at this show as I suspect they would have fought it out for the hard luck award. Jeff and Carol had problems on the way to Hillsboro on Saturday and had to leave the cougar at home and Mike was having issues the day of show as well. As a result we actually had a tech session going right there in the parking lot. I have never seen as many people under the hood of a car as I did that day. As we all watched/managed, Dave Nashif proceeded to take Mike’s carburetor apart. Many a thought of Doc Anders looking down and laughing at us was had and he was sorely missed. Eventually Dave found a small metal shaving in the needle and seat that was causing the car to flood and once that was removed and the carburetor was reassembled a test drive confirmed the issue was resolved. Thanks Dave for teaching me a thing or two about carb’s in the process. As always we had a good turnout at this show and I encourage you all to consider attending this show next year. There are many cool Ford’s that attend and everyone there is eager to visit with fellow Ford Enthusiasts. I hope that the rest of your June is great and lets get out there and cruise. Prowl is coming fast so lets see if we can set a new high for attendance. |
