EVENT:. Mustangs & Cougars at the Courthouse
SPONSOR:. North Olympic Mustangs Club
DATE:. April 16, 2005
LOCATION:. Port Angeles, Washington

By Jim Compton

I could say the North Olympic Mustang Club’s excellent record with show weather dried up on them, but that’s not quite what happened. It quit raining a little before the show, but 4 showers passed through during the show. Two showers fell with sun still shining through in other places. It was still a good show.

.

Given the forecast of certain rain, this year's Port Angeles show was well attended. with a total of 87 cars. The field included 13 Cougars and 55 Mustangs.

The 1967-68 Cougars are putting on a brave face for their admirers. Jim and Janice Murphey's green '67 is paired with Lindy Walker's Gold '68. They still look good in the light rain.

.
Five CCC Cougars came up through Tacoma and Bremerton that morning. The drivers and their cars were Dave Nashif (aqua 1969 standard convertible), Jeff Bingaman (blue 1970 convertible), Noel Bingaman (red 1967), Tyler Husby (gray modified 1969 standard), and Jim and Janice Murphy (green 1967 standard). They were joined by Dennis and Mary Welch (royal blue 1970 XR-7 convertible) and Kyle Welch (blue 1970 XR-7 coupe), Elaine and Jim Pinkerton (black 1969 XR-7 convertible), Jim Compton (white 1969 XR7 coupe), Bridgett Schoolfield (black 1970 XR-7), and Scott Ferguson and Heather Whitaker (green 1968 XR7-G). Lindy Walker entered a gold 1968 standard. Don and Janice Buol entered a red 1969 standard coupe. Bob and Theresa Wilkins also came in with their green 1969 standard coupe, but were too late to enter. Dan and Dixie Miniken and Dave Emmett also came to the show, but did not bring their Cougars.
